Our Approach to a Better Environment.

At Tarlu we care about the world we operate in and aspire to work within it as a sustainable business. We are fully committed to minimising the company’s environmental impact and proactively implement new sustainability practices across our distribution centres on a frequent basis.

Here is what we have done to date

Renewable Energy: All existing energy contracts are being converted to renewable energy options.

LED Lighting: All distribution centres have been converted from halogen to LED lighting.

Gas to Electric Forklifts: All gas forklifts replaced with electric across all sites.

Recycled Infill: Implementation of a recycling process that takes infill from inbound shipments, to use in the outbound packing process.

Recycling Damaged Cartons: Investment in carton shredders enables Tarlu to convert damaged cartons into protective infill for outbound packages.

Eco Friendly Packaging: Added a variety of eco friendly packaging options into our range.

Paperless Picking: Implemented a paperless picking process removing thousands of sheets of paper from our day to day operation.

Sustainable Packing: Working with suitable brands to cut out waste across the pick and pack operation of their goods.

Pack Smart: Our comprehensive box range enables us to use the smallest box possible for orders.

Electronic despatch notes : IT investment means that despatch notes can be emailed to customers rather than printed and sent out with packages.

Biodegradable Shipping Labels  : Sourced biodegradable shipping labels for clients with sustainability at the core of their brand.

Elimination of Gas Supplies: Gas supplies switched off at all Tarlu sites.

Stock Disposal: We look to avoid inventory wastage. Old stock is often donated, where appropriate, to local charities.

Here’s what we are doing going forward

We are forever challenging, monitoring and reviewing the performance of carriers in the reduction of their carbon footprint.

All new fulfilment centres are signing up to renewable energy only suppliers.

Only electric powered forklifts are being purchased going forward.

We are working to remove all packaging options containing plastic from our range.

We are working to convert from plastic to paper based tape for all orders.

We are continuously investing in new technology to digitise our warehouse operations and standard operating procedures.

We are proactively sourcing new supply chain partners who evidence strong values on sustainability.

We are committed to reviewing our energy saving policies and continuing to recycle and dispose of segregated waste efficiently and considerately.

We are investigating carbon offsetting projects and will actively encourage our clients to join us as we continue our sustainable journey.

The move to becoming a sustainable business does not happen over night but with the support of our partners and our clients we will achieve our goals and leave behind a better planet.
