''I began my journey at Tarlu as a ‘Logistics Assistant’ on 01/07/2022 having just completed my second year at Bournemouth University.

I could have never imagined how far this placement would take me; both my academic skills and personal skills have increased exponentially and for that I have Tarlu to thank.”

“Day-to-day operations were constantly changing throughout my time here. One day you could be overseeing multiple, small B2C orders, the next you could be helping the team fulfil a multi-thousand item - B2B order.

Outside the main operations there was a lot going on behind the scenes that not every employee gets to see. My main tasks revolved around building and maintaining relationships with clients and couriers.

One of my favourite aspects, of this placement, was the autonomy and responsibility that my MD Luis and line manager Claudio handed to me. This is something I don’t believe you would get if you were to go on a placement to a multinational, global firm. Having frequent and direct contact with the Managing Director and daily contact with my Manager, Claudio, enabled me to ask bigger questions and explore new avenues that propelled the business forward. Every day I felt like my work was going towards something that mattered. From building project proposals for new ventures within the business, to creating specialised reports for clients to increase our value; I was enabled to push myself and develop skills both personally and professionally.

Although my job title was ‘Logistics Assistant’, I was able to explore and utilise my current skills to help other parts of the business. One of my favourite tasks was setting up and managing the social media account. This all kicked off with a short conversation with our MD Luis when I mentioned it could do with improvement. From there, we have gone from posting randomly every few months to having a dedicated social media calendar, creating meaningful posts that really highlight some of our brands core values, these being - Culture, Sustainability, and Creating New Initiatives.

My praise to Luis, Claudio and the whole Tarlu team is endless. I cannot think of a better employer for placement students. The range in roles, the skills you learn and the experiences that you will encounter can’t be matched by any other company."
